i see you

Inspired by the goddess Alexa Chung, these are my nails of the week. Freaky, yet fantastic. I love them. So easy to do as well! After purchasing my WAH nails book, a 'manga eye' tutorial really caught my eye, i remember seeing Alexa Chung with eye nails and hit it up right away. They're a lot different to what i'd normally paint, which are usually quite eccentric (a lot of glitter and patterning) but these are... weird. and i like weird.

Zoe Jordan SS 14

Okay, i am literally freaking out (in a good way) over Zoe Jordans SS collection. I watched her show at London Fashion Week and her along with House of Holland were my absolute favourites. She uses a lot of leather and fine material, which i love. Combining girly and leather is my thing and this range really gets me excited. These are the three collections which i'm completely in love and inspired by. Thankyou Zoe Jordan, you are fantastic.

Makeup Game ~

Hey to whoever is reading this! I thought i'd write a make-up review (drugstore) and share it with you guys! Photo's from what i wore this SS and AW. This way the palette to my summer '13. Since then i have experimented with different foundations, powders, you name it! My face is quite oily so i have to apply powder lightly all over my face once ive applied foundation, quite annoying! So i went searching/testing foundations that would keep my skin from looking greasy and instead slightly dewy. I found that Bourjois is excellent at keeping my oily skin dewy rather than greasy but isn't very good at concealing. I then went on to try MUA's BB cream, an excellent concealer but VERY thick, looks good, for about half an hour, then quickly turns greasy and feels very sticky. Better used as concealer than all over face foundation. Miss Sporty's Coral lipstick is an all time favourite, keeping my lips hydrated and glossy looking, perfect for natural/summer looks.

Coming up to winter i had a make-up bag, make-over (haha) I needed to find a new foundation, powder, mascara, you name it!

And i found something perfect. I have never used maxfactor before and was incredibly pleased with the result. Talking to a beautician i discussed that mousse foundations usually leave my skin looking dry and chapped, but this is a revelation! It keeps my skin dewy (but NOT greasy) all day, with minimal blotting of powder, keeping my skin looking radiant and summery! Lipfinity also keeps to its word, after testing my chosen colour it seemed impossible to get off and stayed for hours, a handbag must have if you're going out all day/night! You can find ALL of these products in local drugstores such as Boots and Superdrug! I then bought one of Rimmel's "Glam Eyes HD five colour eye shadow palette" I'm not someone who defines my eye (as said in earlier posts) but i decided to give natural smoky eyes a go! Obviously not as pigmented as the Urban Decay naked palettes, but it last for hours and doesn't crease within my eyes!

What do you think of these products/what are your most recommended drugstore essentials?

This photograph was taken whilst I took a walk in the countryside of West Yorkshire. I took the photo portrait for the particular reason that the lake is shown in the top third, giving the photo an element of mystery as its encased within the trees. I haven’t edited the lighting as the angle of the sun shone through the trees perfectly. I lowered the contrast so the grass in the bottom third was darker creating a main focus upon the lake and trees. It is one of my favourite photo’s to date as I love photographing nature alongside figurative.

Polyvore!

I set up a polyvore account about two months ago, and i love it. It’s like a walk in wardrobe which im not actually able to apply to myself but i love it just as much. I am able to put outfits together and share with people for inspiration, and to me, that’s amazing. This particular outfit should be a must have for any girl wardrobe, i love the leather mixing in with the pastels so it gives leather a classy rather than grungy edge, perfect for a day out shopping or even for lunch. I chose to include the topshop lipstick and nail polish as they’re a personal favourite and reasonably priced. Any Marc Jacobs perfume smells absolutely devine and “Daisy” is lovely for the day/evening as it’s light and fresh. I’d recommend to anyone Marc Jacobs and Topshop make-up as they’re handbag must- haves.
Check out more of my outfits at "Polyvore.com/farrahlorrel" thanks, F x

Gothic Glam

Hey guys! For the past few weeks/months I have had an obsession with dark reds/purple/burgundy. I know the HUGE hype over MAC lipstick and being an average girl, i can't afford to spend £15 per lippy so i went on a hunt to find the perfect dupes in local drugstores!

I bought (1) Shade 1 by MUA, being only £1 I wanted to test a dark red shade. I've always been a fan of bright lips as i haven't been blessed with the most gorgeous big eyes, so lips are my forte when it comes to dressing up. This shade is a perfect dupe of MAC's 'Chili'.

I was inspired by Binky's dark purple-y/brown nails whilst watching "Made in Chelsea" so decided to hunt down the perfect vampy shade. I found the shade (2) 'Ruthless' by Topshop which is a dark red/burgundy for wintery day outfits/evening glamour; pairing perfectly with gold or silver jewellery really makes it a season must have!

(3) Rimmel's Moisture renew lipstick in 'Sloane's Plum' which looks exactly like MAC's 'Rebel' gorgeous with dark smoky eyes or natural mascara alone, a daring shade and not for the faint hearted.
This is one of my favourite photos taken from last summer, originally inspired by photographer Jessica Christ but taken randomly during the day whilst Bryony and Oran skated. Location: Wrekin College. June/13
